Ground Sirloin Tacos
Serves 4
Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Grill time: 10 Minutes

Ingredients:

    • 1 lb. sirloin beef, cut into 2-inch cubes - mostly frozen - not quite solid, but not thawed enough to do anything with
    • 1/4 cup taco seasoning
    • 1 medium sized onion
    • 4 cloves of garlic
    • 1 green pepper
    • 1 jalapeño pepper
    • 12 hard or soft taco shells, or a mix
    • 2 cups shredded cheese
    • lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and salsa for dressing

I have been lucky enough to get my own meat grinder. With it I decided to grind our own beef for tacos. Ground Sirloin Tacos are delicious, they're fresh and you know exactly what's in them. You can grind in your favorite flavourings, like garlic, onions and even the taco seasoning itself, to achieve maximum awesome. These tacos were amazing. I added the homemade taco seasoning, garlic, onions, and peppers, and ground it right into the meat itself before grilling. Just remember to grind from frozen, the meat fat gets caught in the grind wheel and makes an awful mess.

Ground Sirloin Tacos

Serves: 4       Total Time: 40 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sirloin beef, cut into 2-inch cubes - mostly frozen - not quite solid, but not thawed enough to do anything with
  • 1/4 cup taco seasoning
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 jalapeño pepper
  • 12 hard or soft taco shells, or a mix
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and salsa for dressing

Directions

Step 1
Gather your ingredients, chop the onion, garlic and peppers. Slice the meat into larger, 2-inch chunks and run them through the grinder once.
Step 2
Add the seasoning, the chopped garlic, peppers and 3/4 of the onion (save some for topping) and mix the ground beef, and seasonings together. Grind the mixture again.
Step 3
Preheat your grill to about 350°F, placing your cast iron or stainless steel griddle to heat with the grill.
Step 4
Oil the griddle, and grill the beef, mixing frequently to make sure that everything is cooked. This should only take about 10 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the meat. While the meat is cooking, you can warm the taco shells over very low heat.
Step 5
Serve these fresh tacos with onion, sour cream, cheese and salsa for a fresh and delicious meal. Don't forget the guac.
