Seeking something different the other night, I found myself looking for a way to use the lime I had and some chicken thighs that I pulled out of the freezer. Planked Spicy Lime Chicken just kind of happened and it turned out to be very delicious. Smoky paprika and chili powder combine with the smoke from the cedar plank to create a sweet taste that is balanced out by the juicy lime sauce.
Moist turkeys are the bane of many's existence. Really, they can't cook a turkey to save their souls, not even a butterball! That's where I come in. Butter Injected Rotisserie Turkey is super easy, very tasty and just plain awesome. Prep time is nearly non-existent, and it should only take about 20 minutes per pound. Try it this Thanksgiving. You already have the stuff to make it in your pantry.
A friend of mine introduced me to the concept of curry. In his household, he is the master of curry, making it at least twice a week. So when I was doing a barbecue luncheon for him, I thought I should try to incorporate his favorite flavors into something for the grill. These Spicy Curry Burgers ended up being great, beefy burgers with some spicy heat and a real hit of that curry flavor.
It's always good to try something different. That is what I did with this recipe. First, I purchased a cut of steak that I don't often get. The flank steak is usually mis-cooked and often tough and not so great. But like many things, just needs some tender loving care. Flank is porous and benefits from the marinade treatment. The other thing I tried was some different photography techniques. I'm not sure I like how the dark and moody thing came out. But the photos make the food look tasty. I guess that's what matters.
Sometimes you just need something a little more filling than nibbles when you're cooking for a crowd or game day. These Boneless Ribs With Apple-Hickory Barbecue Sauce fill the hole, can be eaten as finger food, proper like with a fork and knife, or on a bun for portability. They're sticky, sweet, and oh so delicious. Finished with some brown sugar on top, you'll have people screaming for you to "gimme some sugar".
Nothing's better than bacon. Well, there's chocolate, that's really good, and butter, and garlic, garlic-butter... okay there are several things AS GOOD AS bacon. But when you wrap things IN bacon, well, you're upping the game to the next level of delicious. This recipe for Bacon Wrapped Pineapple Rings With Sriracha And Brown Sugar Baste are bacon-y and sweet, and spicy, and all around YUMMY.
Today, September the 18th, is National Cheeseburger Day! How do you plan on celebrating?
I made some supremely cheesy beef burgers to celebrate, and I really recommend that you whip some of these up for tonight's dinner too! Last year we had the pleasure of Sultana's Bacon Cheeseburgers, but this year, we have something even better! What could be better you ask? These Super Cheesy Swiss Stuffed Cheeseburgers With Cheddar And Jalapeño Havarti. I know that the recipe time says that it takes 105 minutes to make, but it's all in the prep, and then there's 30 minutes of chilling time too. But I can assure you that these burgers are worth it.
I have been lucky enough to get my own meat grinder. With it I decided to grind our own beef for tacos. Ground Sirloin Tacos are delicious, they're fresh and you know exactly what's in them. You can grind in your favorite flavourings, like garlic, onions and even the taco seasoning itself, to achieve maximum awesome. These tacos were amazing. I added the homemade taco seasoning, garlic, onions, and peppers, and ground it right into the meat itself before grilling. Just remember to grind from frozen, the meat fat gets caught in the grind wheel and makes an awful mess.
What if you could marry the amazing combination of maple and bacon into a portable meal that satisfies all of your cravings? These Maple Bacon Beer Burgers have a little bit of all the best things, they come together to make a tasty burger. Place it on a rosemary focaccia with lettuce and onions. YUM! You won't believe your tastebuds.
When cooking for a crowd there are many times where you have people that have allergies. These are things that need to be considered carefully when selecting a menu. Recently I had the pleasure of cooking for 50-ish people. There were people that were gluten free, dairy free, diabetic, corn free and even egg free! Funnily enough no nut allergies... but I digress. Basically I wanted to finish off the meal that I prepared with a little bit of a sweet treat. I was inspired by The Minimalist Baker's Vegan Gluten Free Brownies to make these, One Bite Black Bean Brownies aren't crazy sweet but they have that hit of chocolate and fudge-ish texture that you like in a brownie.
